FAQ
UVBA membership has its rewards. As a current member of UVBA, you can promote your business to other UVBA members through your participation in our Member to Member Discount Program. Here‘s the way it works. You list your business as a participating member at no cost to you, specifying what discount you are making available to other UVBA members and their employees as well as any restrictions. We publish your offer to the entire UVBA membership and other business owners, and their employees use your products and services. You acquire new business, and they get a break when using your products or services.
UVBA members may also post discounts for the DPerks Program, the employee discount program for Dartmouth College employees and Dartmouth Health system physicians, professionals, administrative assistants and union members at all DH facilities/offices and their affiliate hospitals and services throughout New Hampshire and Vermont. Affiliates include Alice Peck Day Hospital, Cheshire Medical Center, Mt. Ascutney Hospital, New London Hospital, Valley Regional Hospital, Dartmouth Cancer Center, Dartmouth Children’s Hospital, and Visiting Nurse and Hospice of Vermont & New Hampshire. In fact, all 25,000+ employees.
We only need to know that you will participate and what your discount and restrictions, if any, will be. It’s as simple as emailing your offer to UVBA at your earliest convenience.
Your UVBA membership is working for you 24/7. Every member has their own page on our website that is customizable with photos, videos, offers, job postings and news releases. If you don’t have your own website, it raises your business visibility in search engines and gives you a digital presence – and if you do have a website, it amplifies your own SEO. At over 100,000 hits annually, our website brings notice to our members.
UVBA publishes an annual Community Guide & Business Directory that is distributed throughout NH & VT welcome centers as well as local businesses. It includes complete contact information listings, free to UVBA members, and offers display ads at great member discounts, too.
UVBA publishes a weekly newsletter to UVBA members and a community newsletter called Local Upper Valley, and puts out alerts and updates through our Local Upper Valley App and social media – all to tell everyone about your business opening, product offerings, deals, and special events.
In addition to all the marketing communications above, UVBA hosts networking events and special events such as the Reader's Choice Awards, LebFest and Celebrate the Season! Many events offer the opportunity to provide refreshments and/or raffle prizes to showcase your offerings, and some include members from neighboring chambers too. Our referral group is a great place to connect with other businesses to exchange leads and share business.
The more active you are in UVBA events, the more top-of-mind visibility you’ll enjoy.
Business is constantly changing. New laws, economic climate, and best practices are hard to keep up to date with. UVBA offers practical workshops and education seminars to help you learn what you need to know. UVBA also represents the business community in discussions with local and state government and actively works to encourage a business-friendly climate. We are here to share opportunities with you, new programs, best practices and knowledge, and to let decision makers know how their votes will affect your business.
Your target clients or customers may not be located in the Upper Valley but your workers are. Our workforce programs (Upper Valley Young Professionals, Upper Valley BIPOC Network, and Meet Up Upper Valley) are all aimed at increasing the retention of your relocated hires, strengthening community ties and creating welcoming and equitable communities for all.
We advocate for all our members- large and small – and work on the big issues affecting all employers – housing, child care, transportation, to name a few. Your support of UVBA helps us to have the resources to retain professional staff who have the knowledge, connections and experience bringing government and business together to solve these issues.
UVBA sends out a weekly e-newsletter on Tuesdays with information that you can use such as programs that will help your business, interesting updates on the state/regional economy, and upcoming events and member news.
On Fridays, we send out our community e-newsletter called Local Upper Valley. LUV is designed to promote our member’s events, sales, and promotions. LUV has a subscription of 2800.
The Local Upper Valley mobile app is another tool. The app promotes our members, has a comprehensive event calendar and members can also send out push notifications to promote sales and events.
